Emergency Water Notice

This notice has been lifted, please see latest updates.

Alberta Health Services has issued a boil water order for the Village of Barons.

View the official boil water order below.

****UPDATE****

The repair has now been completed as of 6:30 pm and the potable water system is now back in service. As flushing of the lines continues, you may find that the water pressure is reduced. This flushing is done to remove any contaminants from the system. It may take some time for the system to re-pressurize, however, the water service is operational though with the Boil Water Advisory continuing.

Thank you for your patience while we conducted this emergency repair.

****URGENT NOTICE****

At approximately 9:00 this morning, the Village was notified of a possible break in a water line at the intersection of Railway Ave and Duke Street. After investigation it was determined that there was a rupture in the water line and work commenced to complete these emergency repairs.

Initial reports from the onsite Contractor indicated that there would be no impact to the residents, however, after more work was done and the break uncovered, it was determined that the only course of action available would be to shut off the potable water system to the Village in order to complete the repair.

Once the system is pressurized again and water is restored, the Village will be in a Boil Water Advisory. This advisory will remain in effect following the repair until such time as water samples can be provided. Alberta Environment has been notified and will advise us when the Boil Water Advisory can be lifted.
