The Village of Barons boil water advisory has been lifted. Water samples came back clear and Alberta Environment has given the all clear, so residents can go back to using tap water normally. No more boiling for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or making ice.

Thank you for your patience while the water system improvements were completed.

Queen Street residents: please keep taking precautions

If you live on the 100 or 200 blocks of Queen Street, this does not apply to you yet.

An isolated shutdown happened on Monday, August 10 to install a piece of water line on those blocks. Until we have test results back, homes on the 100 and 200 blocks should continue to take boil water precautions. Samples have been sent to the lab and the situation is being monitored. We will post an update as soon as we have confirmation that the water is safe to drink.

What boil water precautions mean

For anyone still under precautions, bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for:

• Drinking
• Cooking and preparing food
• Making ice, juice, coffee, or baby formula
• Brushing teeth
• Washing fruits and vegetables

Let the water cool on its own. Do not add ice to speed it up.
